Making a bold statement that golf tourism has arrived in Vietnam, Indochina Capital on June 12, 2007 announced the signing and start of construction of the golf course design agreement with Colin Montgomerie to create his first "Montgomerie" branded course in Vietnam. Those familiar with Monty’s growing portfolio of his exclusive and high quality personally branded designs, will recognize The Montgomerie trademark from his flagship courses in Dubai, Ireland and Wales. Vietnam will now be included in this premier list of golfing destinations owing to the vision of Indochina.
Located just off famed China Beach and minutes from Da Nang’s international airport, The Montgomerie Links Vietnam has been routed to capitalize on its close proximity to both the warm, tranquil South China Sea and striking Marble Mountains — which are clearly visible from various points on the course.
"Da Nang is deserving of a world class golfing experience which has not existed until now", states Indochina’s CEO Peter Ryder. "It has long been our goal to create a luxury golf and beach destination and by partnering with Colin and his personal brand, we know the marketplace will recognize our commitment to delivering this." Indochina rounds out this plan as the developer of the luxury resort The Namhai, just down the road from the course, which is being operated by the renowned GHM. It has opened to rave industry reviews.
The course routing calls for an exciting mixture of heathlands and links style holes which will cater to players of all abilities. Limited memberships, by invitation and interview only will be available with the remainder of the play offered to tourists and locals from the Danang and Hoi An area. A tasteful number (approximately 60) integrated villas with special golf or mountain views be on offer. The current schedule calls for a soft opening of 9 holes by early 2008 with the full 18 hole grand opening later in 2008.
